KFC. McDonalds. Burger King. Pizza Hut. Subway. Chinese. Thai. Indian. Fish and Chips. Have I finished yet? No of course not, there’s plenty more situated around our globe. Fast food chains seem to be popping up everywhere, right before our eyes. And guess what? I’m right; they are popping up everywhere on planet Earth.
Everywhere you look you are guaranteed to spot a McDonalds or a KFC. Whether you’re at the supermarket for your weekly shop, turning into the petrol station to fill up your car, or stopping off at the motorway services for a cheeky nap, you’ll see at least one big brand! When I said everywhere I meant it. Really!
Over the last 3 decades the consumption of fast food has briskly increased, just like the amount of rain glorious England receives. Well. Is it a surprise? No of course not, not with the information in which I’ve shared with you. And when the next sentence seduces itself into your thoughts you’ll be even more aware why. One brand. One hundred countries. Any guesses? McDonalds, or Macca’s as it is known throughout entire Australia. This transnational company serves a mouth-watering 40 million customers every single day. Now that sure is a lot of people. Every time you blink McDonalds sells at least two big macs! There an imperative question in which we all need to ask, in order to articulate the pandemic spreading of one world famous company.
Fast food is exactly that. It’s fast. Faster than fast actually. It’s convenient also. If we had the time would we still eat this processed cardboard? Maybe. Maybe not. It’s down to personal choice but one thing we can all correlate to is that we may not eat there as often. Taste is one thing. Time is another. When the two are mixed together, an abominating concoction is formed. We are starving and all that persists and strangles our brains is our appetite. Paralysing pains of hunger. Desperation strikes and so do we; giving in to all our temptations…
Burger King here we come!
When that bodacious burger or chicken nugget mountain arrives, fresh from the toasty girl our senses subconsciously ignite a world of intensifying taste. Our bodies temporarily block out the rest of the world as you take that bite….
Please, I’m begging you to answer this honestly: would you dream, in the very same way, of that exact same bag of fries 30 minutes later? Yuck no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That would be grosser than gross, sicker than sick, and fattier than fat. That would be revoltingly repulsive. Imagine that soggy, dripping with fat, unwanted burger sliding down your oesophagus with true exhilaration as it reaches the exciting ball pit: your stomach. Like diving into a paradise, the saturated fat can get to work, get to its destination. A destination to kill…
Each bite sparks another catastrophe, another health risk. The breaded role, yum: Heart Disease. The oozing burger: Kidney Failure. Ooh, and that sauce: Liver disease. Obesity also. And what about when it’s all gone, are you full? Entirely full. Or are you sluggish, lifeless and still peckish? The thing is the fat content is so high that each year the tables turn and the burger consumes you!
Think how long the McDonalds Menu actually is. Quite long. Only seven items on the McDonalds menu are sugar free. Some people love sugar; I have to confess to a sweet tooth myself, but when you think about a chicken burger containing tonnes of sugar even I feel the vomit churning deep inside me. Let me present the extent at which fast food becomes critical. 400,000 people perish each year from illness thanks to eating fast foot. That’s a huge quantity of people.
A question: do you know what you’re eating? What is in that steaming burger that kisses your lips caressingly? Firstly, did you know about the amount of sugar secreting into your bloodstream? High blood sugar levels can cause all sorts of problems consisting of diabetes, which by the way is on increase, along with all the other diseases! A contagion…
This next fact really freaked me out: one burger could contain a mixture of meats from up to 100 different cows. As you take a deep absorbing bite into your burger what crops into your mind? The taste of the cow (I mean 100 cows) that your burger came from. I like to think about what I am eating. It is important to know that the food came from a good place. This way what you eat provides you with a sense of comfort and peace of mind. Just knowing what you put in your mouth had a bad life, not even being a whole one animal makes me sincerely nauseated.
Great if where your food comes from doesn’t bother you. I understand some people just try and block it out. Me too. I have to switch away from it, or I’d probably be falling down the drains due to not consuming anything at all!
Now, I’m not trying to enforce that you never eat fast food again. Wouldn’t we all be better for doing so? Yes! But at the same time it seems almost impossible. The message I wish to drill into your brain is that you should enjoy in moderation. Fast food is fine every so often, but DO NOT fall into its seductive trap. The trap that leaves you craving more, more, and more fast food. You don’t want to fall into bad habits. Bad habits have shattering side effects.
Fast food may be fast, but any faster and the acceleration will drive you to a rapid death!
