Whoop! I got nominated to do the Reading Habits TAG- how exciting! One of my all-time favourite bloggers Jenny has tagged me in it. Before I get stuck in I must say a thank you to her. Also don’t forget to check out her fabulous blog. Ready?...
Just like Jenny I adore reading in my bed; surely that has to be the most relaxing place in which we can absorb ourselves into a good book. Also when it’s hot and sunny I love reading anywhere outdoors: may that be the park, in the garden or at the beach. Either way, where I read has to be quiet. I hate reading with noise in the background!
Bookmark or a piece of paper?
Even though I have a kindle, I still love physically holding the book from time to time. So when I do read a physical book I use a mixture of the two. I adore those cute and sweet bookmarks, and the concept of those are fantastic but when in bed, tired and ready to sleep sometimes getting up to find a bookmark is too much effort so I’ll just shove a random piece of paper right in there.
Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter or certain number of pages?
Preferably I love reading to the end of the chapter but sometimes, just sometimes, I have to part with my book in the middle of a chapter. I don’t really like stopping half way through but it doesn’t bother me too much as I can just pick up with the plot when I’m next reading.
Do you eat or drink when reading?
I quite like a cup of tea when I’m reading but definitely don’t eat. I HATE getting crumbs in my book…
No way- I get totally distracted. As I said before: I must be in a noise free environment.
One book at a time, or several at once?
I assure you that I can multitask but to be honest when it comes to books I prefer one at a time. I like feeling quite organised with what I’m reading and when it comes to reading more than one book things get a little messy inside my head.
Reading out loud or silently in your head?
I have to read in my head. I guess in a way that’s why I hate it so much when we’re reading in English lit and I have to read aloud. I completely can’t absorb something for the first time by reading aloud. Don’t know if that only applies to me- maybe I’m a little strange!?
Do you ever read ahead or skip pages?
Honestly, what would be the point of reading a book if you don’t actually read it? I could not do that. I actually hate reading ahead so much that I’ll hold my hand over the next few sentences- especially when things are getting intense and gripping!
Breaking the spine or keeping it new?
How do you even keep the spine new? Mine always goes creased and old looking as soon as I’m deep into reading. Don’t get me wrong I’d adore keeping my book looking shiny and new all the time but seriously it’s not really the end of the world. As long as the content stays the same then I’m happy!
Do you write in your books?
This is a funny question. I’d actually answer no, but when I was like five or six I went through more or less every single book I owned, writing, drawing, and sticking stickers in them. I cannot believe I did that: poor books!
