Hey Girlies,
Happy Wednesday! Today I have for you the lovely Catherine, a fabulous guest blogger. Today she's chatting about embracing your natural hair. Over to you...
Hello Sophie Jane's readers! I'm Catherine from the blog You Wish You doing a little guest post for you all. I hope you enjoy the post, visit and follow my blog for more fashion, beauty and lifestyle advice, reviews and thoughts.
For a long time I struggled with managing my natural hair; I would always just straighten the living hell out of it and leave it at that. I never bothered to try and work with it. While heat styling is great for achieving that perfect finish for a hairstyle, excessively straightening my hair every day was visibly damaging it so learning to embrace my natural hair and work with it rather than trying to fight against it has helped improve its condition and saved me time for my everyday hair styles. If you are finding yourself in a similar situation don't ever rule out being able to manage your natural hair, it is easier than you think!
The first step to embracing your natural hair is recognizing what hair type you have. I have very fine, curly hair it is also quite short and takes its sweet time growing! Once you know what hair type you have you can use this to help you select the products and tools which will give your hair that little extra something that nature missed, in my case thickness and volume. A mistake I made a long time ago was using a thickening cream that I didn't like and then ruling out all thickening creams. Shop around! There are a huge selection of products tailored for specific hair types, you might not find works best for you straight away but it's out there, I promise.

One of the most helpful tools for embracing and working your natural hair is the internet. Sounds ridiculous, I know. But the internet is filled with tutorials, tips and tricks that will help you style your natural hair beautifully. For me personally, blow drying is the most important thing to get right if I want to avoid using too much heat on my hair and I used to never be able to get it right so I'd just end up going back to the hair straighteners. The solution was easy; a quick search on YouTube. There are loads of videos on how to blow dry fine and short hair, and obviously all other hair types too! And it's not just blow drying that YouTube can help with, any issues you have with your natural hair (for example, how to curl straight hair without heat, or easy hairstyles for curly hair) you can find a video for.
This may seem like simple advice but I know a lot of us fight against our natural hair rather than embracing it and finding the styles and products that work with it. I hope you have found this post useful and for more beauty or fashion posts follow my blog at www.youwishyou.blogspot.co.uk
