So there was me, dedicating a day to myself on the most romantic day of the year, when I thought of something. Something important, something that needs to be reiterated. It’s something you need to listen to. Now, my blogs (well, the two so far) aren’t normally very personal; they share facts along with a written opinion, mingled deep with my words. But this blog is imperative. I need you to read and to believe every word I write.
Each year billions of people throughout the world celebrate St Valentine’s Day. Roses sent. Love declared. Marriage proposals. But is the true meaning of this sacred day? Maybe for lovers, but not for me. Being single makes February 14th seem just like any other day and really, deep down it is. Let’s make it a day where we appreciate what we have, who we have, and how we got those things. So you don’t have a boyfriend, guess what? Neither do I. Am I sitting alone, balling my eyes out? No!!! I’m celebrating my independence and the ability to do whatever I want. Today I have done barely anything and with that alone I have good news! I’m in love. Not with a boy, or a girl, but instead with the world. With myself. With life!
Maybe being fifteen has opened my wide eyes because a couple of years ago I didn’t know the true meaning of this day. I thought it was only for couples to celebrate. How wrong was I? Trust me, you can take the day as you want, but you need to remember what I said. Valentines is not for couples, for your dating friends, or for adults, it is for YOU! And only you!

The moment you learn to love yourself is the moment you are ready to love the rest of this gorgeous world. Love your friends, and whoever you live with too. They may drive you crazy but at the end of the day if they are there for you when you need them, then show them how much you appreciate their support.
This day of declared love can be torturous if you have to spend it at school. It can eat you up. Don’t let it. Please. DO NOT worry if you’re not “in love”, like those little twelve year olds walking past you in the corridors. Half of them really aren’t. The majority, if not all, of these twelve year olds have never experienced anything so deep, so contenting, in addition to so exhilarating that their minds are blown away by intensity.

Okay, so some people do meet at a young age, go on to get married and start a family together, but a higher percentage don’t. Focus on your studies and put all of your effort into socialising and meeting new people, before you worry yourself awake at night regarding your love life. If you are still single then think of how great that actually is. Good things come to those who wait. One day you will meet the person of your dreams, why waste time with the wrong person while you’re still young. There are over 7 billion people on this planet. 7 billion plus. Now, don’t tell me you won’t find anyone who will love you.
Someone loving will find you when your least expecting it, so don’t go searching for love. Let the love search for you…
Don’t be the person who mopes around, feeling worthless because you are beautiful, and the moment you open your eyes and accept that it’s okay to be single, the moment you’ll see what the rest of the world witness on a daily.
